The Peace Research Institute at the University of Tampere in Finland (TAPRI) is one of Europe's oldest, having worked continuously since 1971. On 3 May 2006, it will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an international symposium on peace research held at the University's Aula, introduced by the Rector, and chaired by TAPRI Director Dr Tarja Väyrynen.SIPRI Director Alyson JK Bailes will give the first talk at the 3 May event, bringing congratulations to TAPRI from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute which also celebrates an anniversary this year. Her speaking notes, addressing the changing nature and challenges of peace research from the 20th to the 21st centuries, will be posted on this site on 3 May.
